If you are wondering what soft tissue surgery is, it is any surgery that is not associated with bones specifically. We have a highly knowledgeable team of veterinarians that are ready to put their experience and expertise to use to help your pet in the event of soft tissue damage. We have a fully equipped surgical suite. This means we can perform most soft tissue surgeries. Our veterinarians are ready to carry out surgeries such as desexing, caesareans, biopsies, stitching up wounds, lump removal and so much more.
Finding a lump on your pet is scary but removing lumps is a very common surgery. The vet can recommend a biopsy before removal. A biopsy will confirm if the lump is malignant or benign. It is important information that helps the vet plan the surgery to make sure your pet gets the best care. Once a lump is removed it is recommended to send it for further testing and a conclusive diagnosis.
If you find a lump on your pet, do not panic. Most lumps turn out to be benign, that means that they are not cancerous. A small number of lumps discovered on pets are malignant or cancerous tumours. It is always better to bring your pet in to have the lumps looked at because if it is a cancerous tumour it needs to be diagnosed and removed as early as possible. The early treatment of a malignant tumour is key to a good outcome.
If your pet has any lumps or bumps please make an appointment to see one of our veterinarians and discuss any surgery that may be required.
